3 Steps to Protect Your WhatsApp from Hackers

Although WhatsApp is a secure way to message others, your WhatsApp account can be hacked without your knowledge. Mostly, hackers use social hacking methods to get hold of your WhatsApp accounts, which is by tricking you into giving them access. But there are certain measures you can take to avoid this.

 

Enable Two-Step Verification
You must have been hearing this term a lot these days. Two-Step Verification, aka Two-Factor Authentication or 2FA, is the primary key to protect any account online. If you already haven’t, make sure to protect your Google account and Apple ID with Two-Step verification. Now, let’s find out how to enable Two-Step verification on the WhatsApp account.

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
Select Account option.
Tap on “Two-Sep Verification” option and select “Enable” from the next screen.
Provide a passcode for the WhatsApp 2SV and make sure to remember it.

Google Drive: Use With Gmail
With Gmail, you can send attachments limited to 25MB and receive files of up to 50MB. It makes sense to use the built-in Google Drive to send big files. Open your Gmail account and click the Compose button. Click the Google Drive icon at the bottom of the compose window.

The Insert files using Google Drive window appears. Select the files you want to attach. At the bottom of the page, decide how you want to send the file:

Drive link works for any files stored in Drive, including files created using Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Forms.
Attachment only works for files that weren’t built using Docs, Sheets, or Slides.
Gmail checks to see if your recipients have access to the file. If they don’t, it’ll prompt you to change the sharing settings of your file stored in Drive before sending the message. You can set permissions to prevent the file from getting misused and send them to selected recipients.

 WeTransfer: Send Unlimited Large Files Quickly
WeTransfer is a fantastic choice to send files online. For free, and without an account, you can send files up to 2GB; there’s no limit to how often you can use the service either. You can either send these files directly via email or generate a link which you can share elsewhere.

Simply visit the site, click the plus icon, select your files, fill in the fields, then click Transfer. Alternatively, click the three dots and choose Get transfer link. Your file will automatically expire after one week.

If you want, you can sign up to WeTransfer Pro for $12/month. This lets you upload files up to 200GB, offers password protection, gives the ability to customize the sharing page, and more. However, chances are the generous free plan will be more than enough for your needs.

How to use WeTransfer:
1. To start the upload process, go to the home page. On the left side of the home page, you can Enter the recipient's email address which you can add more the one recipients, your email address, and a message.
2. Add the wanted files. You can drag and drop your file into the browser to upload it, and then press transfer.
3. WeTransfer needs to verify your email address in order to send your files. You will receive an email with a code that will allow you to send the files. You need to enter your account number to access your account. This code will expire in 60 minutes.
4. Wait for the files to be uploaded.
5. After the files have been uploaded and sent. You will receive an email after sending data through WeTransfer through the email option. The email message confirms that your file transfer has been sent.
6. Your recipient's will receive a message with the files download link as shown below.
7. The files will be available for download for seven days, after which they will be permanently deleted.
Dropbox: Integrate With Gmail
If you use Dropbox, then the Dropbox for Gmail Chrome extension can let you send, preview files and links without leaving your Gmail window. The extension adds a Dropbox icon to the compose window. Click the Dropbox icon and choose the file from your Dropbox account. A link gets attached, instead of a file in the email message.

As a recipient, you get rich previews of all Dropbox links shared in emails. Just like attachments, you can use these links to download the files directly from Gmail or add it to your Dropbox. With a free Dropbox account, you get a maximum file size limit of only 2GB.

First of all login into your webmail account. Then click on webmail icon to be transferred to the dash board screen.

Then scroll down and choose email filters
Then press on create filter
In filter name box you can but any desired name.
In rules section press the first box and choose “Spam Status” .
The second box choose “begins with” and write “Yes” in the third box.
In actions box choose deliver to folder and press browse, here you can choose the preferred folder which could be junk to receive spam emails.
Press the + sign in the right to add another rule.
Choose Spam Bar from the first box.
Choose contains the enter the desired score for example if you want the default score which is 5 , you write +++++, but if you want restricted filtering you can decrease the score from 5 to 4, so you will write ++++. (Note: If you wanted to match a spam score of 4, you would use ++++`. A spam score of 3 would be +++).
In actions don’t discard spam emails since you are trying the proper score for spam dedication, in other words you will have to check the spam (junk) folder for emails that are legit but have been filtered as spam and you might need them, so you have to follow the next steps:
You have to go and create new filter.
Choose from and contains.
Write the wanted email to be redirected to inbox.
In actions choose delivered to and choose inbox.
Press create and your good to go.

Create a strong password.

 A good password is hard for other people to guess, difficult for software to crack, but easy for you to remember. It can be difficult to come up with a password that meets all of your email service’s criteria that’s actually easy to remember, but here are a few tips:


Your password should be long: The golden rule now is that a password should be 12 characters and contain a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Don’t forget to password-protect your phone or tablet: Even if it makes it take a little longer to access your home screen, always password-protect your mobile devices. If someone else gains access to your unlocked phone or tablet, they’ll have access to all of your apps, including your email.

Use a unique password for your email account. 

Avoid the temptation of reusing passwords on multiple accounts. If you use the same password to log in to your favorite website as you do your email, you’re putting your email at risk—if someone cracks your password on that site, they’ll also have your email password.


Since there are so many passwords to remember nowadays, you may want to try using a password manager.

Avoid choosing the option to save your passwords on the web. If you save your password to make it easier to log in, anyone using your computer may access your email. This is especially important when you’re using a public computer.

Turn on two-step verification

Most of the popular email services, such as Gmail and Outlook, allow you to enable two-step verification, which adds a second layer of protection to your account. When two-step verification is turned on, you’ll also have to enter a special security code that is sent to you via SMS or in an authentication app when logging in from an unknown source (a computer in a different area than you usually log in from). This makes it so if someone manages to crack your email password, they’d also need access to your phone to actually sign in.
